The Little Red Hen

Once upon a time there was a little red hen. Little Red Hen was a hard worker. She had three friends. One was Dog, one was Cat and the other one was Duck. Dog, Cat and Duck were very lazy.

It was autumn and time to sow the wheat. “Can you help me, please?” Little Red Hen asked her friends.

“No we can’t,” replied Dog. “We are playing video games.” So Little Red Hen sowed the wheat all by herself.

It was August and time to harvest the wheat. “Can you help me, please?” Little Red Hen asked her friends.

“No we can’t,” replied Cat. “We’re taking selfies.”

So Little Red Hen harvested the wheat all by herself.

Then Little Red Hen took the wheat to the mill where the miller ground it into flour.

Then Little Red Hen took the flour to her kitchen. Next she added water, salt and yeast to the flour and made dough. Then she put the dough in the oven.

“What’s that delicious smell?” asked Duck.

“It’s fresh bread,” said Little Red Hen.

All together at the same time Dog, Cat and Duck said, “Can we help you eat it?”

“No, you can’t!” said Little Red Hen.
