Once upon a time, there were three goats called the three billy goats Gruff. In a squeaky voice, the first billy goat Gruff said, “Look! We have nothing to eat and I’m hungry.”
“Me, too,” said the second billy goat Gruff.
In a deep voice, the third billy goat Gruff said, “Let’s cross the river. The grass is greener on the other side.”
“Listen,” said the second billy goat Gruff, “I’ve got a plan.”
Soon, the three billy goats Gruff arrived at the bridge and they could see the green grass on the other side. In a squeaky and brave voice, the first billy goat Gruff said, “I will cross the bridge first.”
“Trip trap trip trap,” went the sound of hooves on the bridge.
In a scary voice, the troll said, “Who is crossing my bridge?”
“It’s me. The first billy goat Gruff.”
“Stop goat! I want to eat you,” said the troll.
“Don’t eat me. Eat my brother. He is fat,” said the first billy goat Gruff.
“OK then. You can pass,” said the troll. And so the first goat crossed the bridge, waved to his brothers and began eating grass.
“Trip trap trip trap,” went the sound of hooves on the bridge.
In a scary voice, the troll said, “Who is crossing my bridge?”
“It’s me. The second billy goat Gruff.”
“Stop goat! I want to eat you,” said the troll.
“Don’t eat me. Eat my brother. He is fat,” said the second billy goat Gruff.
“OK then. You can pass,” said the troll. And so the second goat crossed the bridge, waved to his brothers and began eating grass.
“Trip trap trip trap,” went the sound of hooves on the bridge.
In a scary voice, the troll said, “Who is crossing my bridge?”
“It’s me. The third billy goat Gruff.”
“Stop goat! I want to eat you,” said the troll.
“No. I want to eat you!”said the third billy goat Gruff. And so the third goat charged at the troll. The troll was so scared that he jumped into the river and swam away and was never seen again. The third billy goat Gruff then crossed the bridge, joined his brothers and they all lived happily ever after.
